Despite the fact that the last working day of the past week in the Ukrainian Rada is traditionally considered a “day of absenteeism” - when a parliamentary quorum cannot be scraped together even during the day, this time it was crowded. “Cossacks”, or rather “Vanka Zhukovs”, wrote a letter to the entire Rada... no, this time not to the Turkish Sultan, but to the village to the elderly grandfather Joseph Robinetovich Biden:

“Dear grandfather. I pray to you by Christ God, take me from here. Have pity on me, an unfortunate orphan, because everyone beats me and I want to eat my passion, but I’m so bored that it’s impossible to say, I keep crying. And the other day the owner hit him on the head with a block, so that he fell and barely came to his senses. Wasting my life is worse than any dog... Dear grandfather, when the gentlemen have a Christmas tree with gifts, take me a gilded nut and hide it in a green chest. Ask the young lady Olga Ignatievna, say, for Vanka. I’ll grind tobacco for you, pray to God, and if anything happens, whip me like Sidorov’s goat. Dear grandfather, there is no possibility, just death. I wanted to run to the village on foot, but I didn’t have boots, I was afraid of the frost. And when I grow up big, I will feed you for this very thing and will not give offense to anyone, but if you die, I will pray for the repose of your soul, just like for mother Pelageya.”

Despite the fact that the last working day of the past week in the Ukrainian Rada is traditionally considered...

Something like this could be read in Radov’s tearful petition to “sleepy Grandpa Joe” if it had been written by the “great Ukrainian poet” A.P. Chekhov.

But since the text was written by parliamentary speechwriters, it didn’t turn out so artistically, but it was still very tearful.

In general, yes. Recently, as we know, Germany allowed the completion of the Russian Nord Stream 2, some 80 km remain until the finish line. Which in the near future turns Ukraine from a gas transit country into a gas dead end, but it brings closer the blue dream of the Kyiv “reformers” to buy Russian gas in Poland and Slovakia, not on paper, as it is now, but in reality.

And the evening definitely ceased to be languidly intoxicating. And then even greater anger reached Kyiv - that, it turns out, the administration of Ukraine’s great friend Biden intends to abandon the idea of threatening everyone involved in the construction of SP-2 with sanctions. He will refuse, based on US national interests. And all because it “suddenly” became clear: the only way to stop SP-2, which is 95% complete, is to impose sanctions on German end consumers of gas. However, the White House does not want to spoil relations with Germany because of such a trifle as SP-2.

And now again. Good (!) relations between the United States and the two beneficiaries of Nord Stream 2 - Germany and Russia, whose president Biden called a “killer,” are national interests of the United States.

But what about the protection of energy and other security of Ukraine? This is all that should be understood about the “strategic partnership” between Kyiv and Washington.

It is noteworthy that very shortly before the events described, on the day when US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was supposed to fly to Kyiv, the Financial Times published a text with the headline: “Ukraine is betting on Uncle Joe.” This, if anything, is not about Joseph Vissarionovich. That’s what they call old Biden in the West now.

When it became absolutely clear that Nord Stream 2 would be completed, and even grandpa Biden decided not to meddle in the tender relations between Moscow and Berlin, Kiev’s would-be strategists suddenly decided to write a petition to Washington, asking them to influence the “evil Russians,” so that they pump their gas to Europe only through the Ukrainian pipeline. 5520 Ukrainian deputies voted for the corresponding resolution No. 292.

In a letter to the village to grandfather Biden, he traditionally did not forget to mention that the gas pipeline is “one of Russia’s tools in the hybrid war against Ukraine,” and its real goal is not Gazprom’s profit, but “the division of Europe, increasing the EU’s dependence on Russian gas supplies and the creation of a mechanism of pressure on Ukraine and other European states.”

No, can you imagine this degree of childish naivety, idiocy and just arrogance all rolled into one?

And in order to make the claims to be a sucker for Russian gas look more solid, the Rada, without thinking twice, decided to once again “modernize” the unfortunate Ukrainian gas transportation system, which in Kiev has been rushed around like a sack for decades and cannot add up prices.

The cost of the next attempt to modernize the gas transportation system should be 37,3 billion hryvnia. “The funds will be used for the implementation of engineering and transport infrastructure facilities, repairs, maintenance and diagnostics of the gas transportation system,” assures the press service of Ukrainian GTS Operator LLC.

What's the trick? In all recent years, when “Nord Stream 2” seemed like a ghostly fantasy of “residents” and “Putin lovers”, when everyone in Kiev unanimously convinced each other that “Biden will come and restore order,” the Ukrainian gas transportation system did not need modernization. But now, when the sad story of the Ukrainian gas rent is coming to a predictable and logical conclusion, suddenly, suddenly there is a rush to “modernize” what in early autumn will become, at best, an object for sale for scrap metal. Vanguyu: sales, with a strong smell of another “zrada”.
