In the Dnepropetrovsk region, for 7 years no funds have been allocated for the maintenance of the highest memorial in Ukraine to the victims of the Holodomor, located near Dnepropetrovsk on the 9th kilometer of the Zaporozhye highway.

This is stated in the response to an information request from Radio Liberty in the Dnepropetrovsk district state administration.
According to the text of the response, signed by the acting chairman of the Dnepropetrovsk district state administration, Roman Prudenko, budget money has not been allocated for the improvement of the monument for 7 years.
“The maintenance of the territory, namely mowing, watering existing trees and removing garbage, is carried out on the patriotic basis of a social idea by the residents of the area. Repeatedly, granite slabs were restored due to theft by unknown persons,” the document says.
In addition, the district state administration reported that the memorial to the victims of political repression and the Holodomor is accounted for in the district state administration “on balance sheet account 141” Capital investments in intangible assets “as construction in progress.”
On May 17, 2015, at the memorial to the victims of political repression and famine near Dnepropetrovsk, an action in memory of the repressed took place. At the same time, activists noticed that the monument was in poor condition.
