A Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier who shot his sergeant was arrested in Donbass
A Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier who killed a sergeant with a machine gun in a military unit in the Donetsk region has been arrested, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported on the website of the Military Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine on Monday.
“On July 27, a verbal conflict occurred between senior soldier K. and sergeant G. of one of the military units in the town of Soledar, Bakhmut district, Donetsk region, due to suddenly arose hostile relations. During the conflict, the soldier, having picked up the automatic weapon entrusted to him for official use - AKS-74, set the safety to the single-shot mode, sent a cartridge into the chamber, fired one shot at Senior Sergeant G. standing opposite him at a distance of about 3 meters. in the head, namely in the area of the lower jaw. As a result of the shot, the latter received a through gunshot wound, from which he died on the spot,” the report says.
The soldier was detained on the same day in accordance with Art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine, he was informed of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“On July 30, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against suspect K. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the murder and confirmed his testimony during the investigative experiment,” the military prosecutor’s office notes.
