In Donbass, it took 10 hours to extinguish a strong fire near the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
On Sunday, strong fire and acrid smoke covered the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Shirokino and the village of Berdyanskoye in the Mariupol region in the south of the Donetsk region.
This was reported by the press service of the JFO headquarters, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Reportedly, the fire was caused by the ignition of dry grass, after which unexploded ammunition began to detonate in the flames approaching the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Strong flames and acrid smoke from the fire that broke out on Sunday were approaching the positions of our defenders. The great danger was that unexploded shells began to detonate... They extinguished the fire with everything they had at hand: branches, shovels. It is unknown what caused the fire. Possibly intentional arson. The scale is large: dry and the wind is still strong. In one place they just extinguished the flame, it appeared nearby and was even stronger,” the report says.
According to the JFO headquarters, it took approximately 8-10 hours to localize the fire. Also, the head of the “military-civil administration” of the villages of Shirokino and Berdyansk, Oleg Prilipko, does not exclude the possibility of sabotage.
