Chairman of the Board of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Nikonov stated this on the air of the Sunday Evening talk show.

According to him, Kyiv was the first to fail to comply with the terms of the Minsk agreements, and today it is unable to defeat the militia army.
“It is obvious that this counter-offensive was forced in order to force the Ukrainian government to peace. This is a peace enforcement operation, because according to the Minsk agreements, Ukrainian heavy weapons should have been withdrawn from the contact line back in September. They did not move away a single step; on the contrary, there was a desire to move closer. This operation was forced, I am sure that these steps on the part of the DPR and LPR are absolutely justified. Obviously, this contradicts the interests of those who want the victory of the Kyiv regime. But this won't work anymore. The DPR and LPR will not take a step back,” Nikonov assures.
