...The uprising in Donbass, into which the “Russian Spring” developed, put the country on the brink of final collapse, and the internal legitimacy of the Maidan as an uprising of the entire people of Ukraine was called into question.
On the eve of the seizure of administrative buildings, a wave of arrests swept across the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. In particular, the SBU reported the capture of an armed sabotage group of fifteen people, armed with, in addition to AKs, PPSh, PPD, MG42 machine gun, and Mosin rifles. Judging by the confiscated “Echo of War,” Ukrainian state security fell into the clutches of none other than Seryozha Tyulenin himself, the legendary field commander of the Krasnodon “Young Guard.” As we all know very well from the Maidan experience, trying to stop protests through repression is like putting out a fire with kerosene. And it burst into flames! The Prosecutor's Office was seized in Mariupol, the SBU building in Lugansk, and the Regional State Administration in Donetsk. In both regional centers, barricades began to grow around occupied buildings.
For three months these people looked at the Maidan. Moreover, there were those who (especially at first) looked at him not without approval - the regionals had already bothered many here. After all, they tried their best to position the Maidan as a popular uprising against a corrupt and authoritarian regime. For three months these people listened to how the “residents of Donbass”, and indeed the entire South-East, were called “scoops”, “slaves” incapable of uprising and paid gopniks – “titushki”. For three months, looking down from the Maidan, they were called upon to rise up to fight. And the call was heard. On February XNUMX, the Black Sea hero cities came out with Russian flags - Kerch, Sevastopol, Odessa - and a week later the East spoke, having come to its senses after the general confusion of the first days and the total betrayal of the elites. On March XNUMX, rallies of thousands gathered in Kharkov, Donetsk and Lugansk, protesters broke into administrative buildings and raised the Russian tricolor over them.
The reaction of those who supported the Maidan was shocking for me personally. “These are titushki!” (not original!), “Russian tourists”, “there are only 150 of them there”, “authorities, restore order” (I’ve heard all this before somewhere!) “crush the reptile!”, “imprison!”, “shoot !”, “e-e-eat!”. Where does it come from? Why?
In fact, we are faced with the well-known psychological phenomenon of repression. The picture of the world of an ordinary Maidan sympathizer was as simple as a black-and-white TV: we are an insurgent people here, the criminal authorities are against us. Even if we shoot at each other and kill each other, no, this is not a civil war. This is a war of Power against the People. And so the power fell. The sacrifices made on the altar of people's freedom are not in vain. “We overthrew Yanukovych, there was such joy, and then... you...” Who is this “you”? This is not the government - the government has fled, broadcasts from television Rostov. The one that did not have time to escape had already repented en masse, renounced, and ran to negotiate with the victors. So who is it that is seizing buildings, building barricades, putting forward some demands? The picture of the world, which had already become canonical, had already become bronzed and in some places even began to be covered with gold, began to burst at the seams.
And treacherous personnel from the East are increasingly intensifying this noise. These images capture what a real popular uprising should look like. An uprising in which there are no Verkhovna Rada deputies in bright vests. An uprising in which literally a few of the hundreds of deputies of local councils took part. An uprising led by no parliamentary, and, by and large, non-parliamentary parties or previously known public organizations. Foreign ambassadors and diplomats do not go to the rebellious people. An uprising that does not have expensive concert equipment with which to voice its position, which does not have its own media with which this position can be replicated. An uprising that, by and large, has nothing.
There is only courage.
Even the purely technological, media “picture” is different. Streams have become a new word in the coverage of the Maidan - live online videos from the scene of events. Unlike regular television pictures, even life ones, streams increase the level of involvement. Up close we see living, ordinary people.
Today, clinging to speakers and headphones, like ancient radios, we listen to the radio broadcast, in which activists of the Donetsk resistance are negotiating and coordinating on open frequencies using the Android Zello. The beginning of the form.
“...Uglegorsk mine is at the entrance...”, “... from Kharkov they report that everything is fine with them...”, “... an unidentified plane is approaching...”, “... check the basements, there must be an underground passage to the SBU” - The degree of emotional involvement is still higher!
So who are all these people? It is impossible to confuse this imitated Eastern Ukrainian accent with anything! With a forced “Ge” and coal-steel notes in his voice. In Kharkov, 63 people were arrested after a forceful purge of the Regional State Administration - all citizens of Kharkov and the region, there are not even “guest performers” from neighboring regions. Presidential candidates Tigipko comes out of the building of the Luhansk SBU seized by the rebels, reports: “all Lugansk residents are here.”
In Lugansk, in general, the descendants of the Don Cossacks reproduced one of the epic pages of the history of the All-Great Don Army - the Azov siege. When a handful of Donets captured a strategic Turkish fortress, and courageously repelling the attacks of an enemy more than ten times superior in numbers and armament, they sent petition letters to the Tsar in Moscow - Father, accept under your bright hand. Then help never came, reinforcements were never sent, and Azov remained Turkish for another hundred years. And now…
