There is a new threat of chemical pollution in Donbass
Due to the destruction of the phenol plant tailings dam on the front line, there is a threat of chemicals being released into drinking water.
Journalists reported this on the telegram channel Donetsk Inside, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
“The destruction of the tailings dam of the phenol plant in Toretsk on the contact line was recorded. 270 tons of chemical waste are stored, 90% full,” the message says.
“The dam stands on the border with the Krivoi Torets River. The storage facility contains a large volume of so-called sludge - waste from chemical production at the Novgorod phenol plant. If the dam breaks, toxic chemicals will flow into the Seversky-Donets-Donbass canal, which supplies drinking water to the DPR and part of the Donetsk region controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” journalists reported.
