“Members of the Contact Group supported the idea of introducing a so-called “grain truce” - a ceasefire for harvesting - from 00:00 on June 24. According to the proposal, the truce should last until August 31. However, the negotiators expressed hope that the silence would last longer,” Talakina said.

However, Pushilin noted at the negotiations, only the disengagement of forces on the front line can guarantee a ceasefire.

“However, there have still been difficulties with the implementation of the disengagement of forces and assets at the last pilot site - in Stanytsia Luganskaya,” recalls Talakina.

“An equally important topic of discussion was the issue of security of water supply facilities on both sides of the contact line. The contact group heard a proposal from the safety working group on methods for organizing the safe operation of pumping and filtration stations, ensuring the work of repair teams, and more. Considering that today, due to the constant shelling of water supply facilities by Ukrainian security forces, about 2 million citizens are at risk of being left without water, while most of the recipients are located in territory controlled by Ukraine, the issue remains one of the most important. The negotiators decided to work out the working group’s proposal in detail and come to a final decision at the next meeting,” she added, clarifying that a new round of negotiations is scheduled for July 5.
