Lugansk, January 02 (PolitNavigator, Artur Chilingarov) – The LPR authorities released footage of the interrogation of arrested members of the “Batman” squad - they were detained the day before on charges of extortion and kidnapping. The detachment commander, Alexander Bednov, was killed.

During preliminary interrogations, detainees confirm the charges brought against them. In particular, the detainee nicknamed “Maniac” described in detail how and why he tortured innocent people, while shifting the blame onto the destroyed leader of the “Batman” gang (Alexander Bednov). Allegedly, everything happened solely on the orders of the latter. The rest of the detainees adhere to the same tactics when giving evidence. An investigation is currently underway and the remaining members of the group are being identified.
As PolitNavigator reported, the day before the press service of the LPR Prosecutor General’s Office disseminated information about the detention of members of the Batman battalion with the call signs “Maniac,” “Phobus,” and “Omega.”
On December 30, 2014, a criminal case was opened against employees of the SBI battalion “Batman” with the call signs “Maniac”, “Omega”, “Dak”, “Chechen”, “Batman”, “Luish”, “Faubus”, “Yanek”, “Khokhol”, “Subbota”, “Zema”, “Tabletka” and others on the facts of illegal imprisonment of two or more persons, torture with weapons, as well as murders, kidnappings of civilians, illegal imprisonment, extortion and robbery.
It is indicated that from June to October 2014, battalion employees illegally detained and tortured dozens of local residents, as a result of which some were killed among those detained by them.
