The fool doesn't need a knife
I don’t remember whether the fairy tale about Pinocchio is now banned in Ukraine, but it would be nice for every horse racer to re-read it or watch a good old Soviet film. Especially, the episode about how the goof Pinocchio tried, at the direction of Alice the Fox and Basilio the Cat, to grow a money tree. It is very reminiscent of Ukraine’s path to Europe, on which the newly-minted country of fools was left without its gold.
I remember that wooden blocks with pots on their heads have already managed to count the millions that will rain down on them from Brussels and Paris, figure out where to spend German pensions and Luxembourg salaries, and even buy selfie sticks to take pictures of themselves in an embroidered shirt against the backdrop of the Louvre. The latter, however, can theoretically be done. The holy visa-free regime has blessed Ukraine with its grace. True, Europe forgot to give money for the trip.
And how well it all started. The inhabitants of the country of fools, who responded to Nayem’s call, galloped diligently so that the Europeans, God forbid, would not think that they were Muscovites. And even the spreading noodles did not interfere with overcoming gravity. And there was a lot of noodles.
For example, the myth about Ukraine's accession to the EU. How hard must the pan be to not understand in 20 years that there is no talk of any kind of entry at all? And the notorious association is just a way to forever shut Kyiv’s mouth about membership. And no one in Europe hid this, wearily repeating for the hundredth time that “there are no prospects.”
But where is it? The great patriots of Ukraine so wanted to get off their jobs as quickly as possible that they had already looked for suitable jobs as cleaners and plumbers in Poland and Italy. And here's the bummer. It turned out that no one planned to allow people to work in the EU, and among the many “bugs” in the association agreement, a good third are employment restrictions for Ukrainians. And in general, visa-free travel was given to the rich, so that a famous couturier would go to Milan to go to Milan to go to the sales of his collections.
Another favorite myth of Scaclopithecines is foreign investment. This is when you don’t have to work, and a kind European uncle gives grants, loans and technical assistance, builds roads and factories, grows rapeseed in Ukrainian fields, and brings Parmesan and jamon to stores. And all so that the little Ukrainian receives 3000 euros in salary and 1000 euros in pension. The noodles on the ears have completely turned sour, and there was still no investment.
But in fact, Europe did come to Ukraine. Exactly in the same way as was written in the notorious association. And it was written there, for example, that Ukraine does not have the right to sell energy resources on the domestic market at a price lower than the export price. Can you guess where the astronomical tariffs come from?
Ukraine also pledged to open the land market to foreigners, on which European agro-industrial giants should grow GMOs, rapeseed, corn and sunflowers. Everything would be fine, but with European intensive technologies, peasants on their land become redundant. As well as workers, small traders, private mechanics and other business people who engage in semi-legal activities without taxes and standards.
In Europe, as you know, it is customary to pay taxes, so there is no need to be indignant at the fact that the state is increasingly reaching into the pockets of citizens. As well as complying with the standards that are now becoming mandatory for Ukraine. If you can't match, don't work.
However, it is difficult to blame Europe for habitually wanting to have colonies. No one forced you to jump. As well as believing that Ukraine will become a second Germany. Bulgaria and the Baltic states are also members of the EU. But the horses chose not to remember them, burying their future in a European hole.
