A case was opened against the extravagant singer for singing the anthem
The controversial Croatian lawyer was offended by the overly original performance of the anthem by jazz diva Josipa Lisac during the recent inauguration of a new president.
Croatian and Balkan media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I found the time to write a statement,” said lawyer Boško Županović, who filed the statement against the singer. – I was disgusted to listen, this is the most sacred act! This option may be suitable for some kind of performance, but not for the inauguration. The anthem is not performed like that... It’s outrageous!”
Zhupanovich is not the only one who was outraged or shocked by the anthem “Our Beautiful Fatherland” performed by Lisats, whose manners and elaborate outfits can be compared to Lady Gaga or the Russian Zhanna Aguzarova, but only in age. Her performance at the inauguration sparked heated discussion on social media.
“Some may not like it, but this is freedom,” Lisac herself commented on the negative reaction to her version of the anthem. – You need to love your country, be free in it, you need to create in it. To love yourself and everyone around you."
With such an ambiguous public response, only lawyer Zhupanovich thought of filing an application for the shocking artist. He himself has a rather scandalous trail behind him: in particular, in 2016, an activist from Rijeka filed 66 criminal complaints against him; in 2009, he was convicted of falsification and use of counterfeit money.
The Croatian public notes that Jospipa Lisac was apparently invited to perform the anthem at the inauguration by President Zoran Milanovic himself, who, unlike his nationalist predecessors who invited Catholic choirs and “folk singers,” wanted to look like an advanced liberal.
