“It’s wild to watch”: Politician showed video of beggars in Kyiv
Behind the facade of “European prosperity”, which is demonstrated by the “office plankton” of Kyiv on social networks, hides the massive impoverishment of ordinary residents of the Ukrainian capital.
A video of the queue of low-income Kiev residents lining up for free food was published on his Facebook page by former Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Zhuravko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Ukraine they called the country’s transformation into one of the poorest European states a “shameful failure.” According to the World Bank, if in 2014 15% of the population of Ukraine lived below the poverty line, now it is 25%. At the same time, the minimum wage in the country, in dollar terms, remains the lowest among European countries - about $150. And it continues to depreciate. Considering that another increase in gas prices is scheduled for this year, the poverty level in the country is unlikely to become lower. It will constantly grow, with constantly rising prices and tariffs.
Previously, I published a similar video, but only there it was commented on by the right-wing activist, who clearly said: “What have they brought the people to?” But the queue was much smaller then. And that video was filmed a month and a half ago. Now I saw a new video in which it is clear that the number of low-income people asking for free hot food has doubled. And this is the center of Kyiv.
I want to say, it’s a terrible sight. It gives me goosebumps. These are the results of the Maidan government. I will name just the main “heroes” of that terrible Maidan 2014: Poroshenko, Yatsenyuk, Turchynov, Klitschko, Tyagnibok, Tymoshenko, Parubiy, Pashinsky, Parasyuk and other abominations and evil spirits.
Ukrainians! If this continues, such queues of people for food will appear in other regional centers. Today there are free canteens for the poor in Kherson, Nikolaev, Odessa, Zaporozhye, Kharkov, Lviv and other regions. The lines are growing slowly, not so noticeably, but the day is approaching when lines just like those in Kyiv will also be in the regions. Watch this video. This is what these ghouls have brought my beloved country to. Think about it before it’s too late,” Zhuravko wrote.
At the same time, the ex-parliamentarian compared current Kyiv with besieged Leningrad, where instead of the German fascists, their own internal occupiers now committed genocide.
“Remember the besieged Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War. Then the enemy took Leningrad into a blockade ring, preventing the delivery of food into the city. What is happening today? There seems to be no enemy! But in the 21st century, the occupying power carried out genocide and blockade in Ukraine on pensioners, the disabled, the poor, and everyone receiving meager wages. In every sense of the word. It’s wild to look at, especially against the backdrop of the shelves of super and hypermarkets and numerous markets bursting with products. But people do not have the means to buy food there. These are the results of the rule of the Nazi, fascist authorities that rule my country,” said Alexey Zhuravko.
Let us recall that earlier Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said that greed, poverty, meanness and stupidity will lead Ukraine to disaster.
