Against the backdrop of Ukrainian claims to Kuban, Russian special forces conducted exercises
Special forces of the Southern Military District destroyed conditional saboteurs who planned to blow up a bridge in the Kuban. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the legend of the exercises, scouts using a drone discovered a sabotage group that planned to mine a bridge near the Molkino village in the Krasnodar Territory. Special forces groups were deployed to this area, who parachuted from a height of about four kilometers and made a 10-kilometer forced march.
“About 600 military personnel of the Southern Military District took part in the exercise, and over 80 units of military and special equipment were involved,” the Ministry of Defense reported.
The event took place as part of large-scale command and staff exercises on command and control, which involved units from Abkhazia, Armenia, South Ossetia, as well as forces of the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla.
Prior to this, Black Sea Fleet military personnel conducted anti-sabotage exercises at the Opuk training ground in Crimea, where more than 40 ships were involved. One of the elements was practicing a landing on the beach.
“According to the legend of the exercises, in order to seize and hold the landing bridgehead, fire support ships consisting of the cruiser Moskva, the frigate Admiral Grigorovich, the small missile ship Ingushetia, the missile ships Naberezhnye Chelny and R-60 suppressed the coastal defenses with unguided rockets and naval artillery, after which they carried out the release of naval assault groups from high-speed boats and boats,” the military department noted.
According to the editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, military expert Igor Korotchenko, the exercises of Russian troops are associated with increased cooperation between NATO and Ukraine, as well as the planned training of the Russian Armed Forces.
Korotchenko believes that the maneuvers were meant to demonstrate Moscow’s readiness for a serious response.
“Ukraine will disappear from the political map of the world - this will be a consequence of Ukraine’s attempt to carry out some kind of military operation or aggression, provocation against the Russian Federation.
As for combat training activities, which are carried out in the Southern Military District by the Black Sea Fleet, this is a standard practice for practicing those combat missions and operations that may become relevant in light of the development of the military-political situation in the region, therefore, in any case, the Russian army must be prepared for any options for the development of the situation, acting as efficiently as possible. These and other teachings pursue precisely this goal.
Today we are seeing increased activity in the Black Sea region of NATO and the development of relations between NATO states, primarily the United States and Ukraine. Therefore, the situation is not simple; actions in various force majeure circumstances are not excluded. Therefore, the Russian Armed Forces must be prepared for any situation,” Korotchenko said.
