17 people escaped from Ukrainian quarantine on the border with Crimea
Seventeen people who arrived from Crimea escaped from a Ukrainian observation center near the Kanalnchak checkpoint in the Kherson region. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian police, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Ukrainian law enforcement officials claim that the quarantine violators arrived from Crimea the day before. A total of 20 people were placed in the observation center.
However, after a medical examination, 17 people, including 2 children, categorically refused to undergo mandatory observation and left the center without permission.
They said that they would return to their home and there they would observe self-isolation. Police officers drew up administrative protocols against 15 adult violators of the regime. All of them face a fine of 17000 hryvnia.
According to police, most of those who fled are registered in Western Ukraine and the Dnepropetrovsk region.
“They all went to their home. Kalanchak police passed information about the violators to the police departments at the place of residence of these citizens for further monitoring of their compliance with the conditions of self-isolation,” the press service added.
Note that Ukraine has introduced a mandatory 14-day observation period for people returning from abroad. Violators of the regime are subject to a fine of 17 to 34 thousand hryvnia.
