A former DPR artilleryman was arrested on the border with Russia
On the border with Russia, at the Melovoe checkpoint in the Lugansk region, a former LPR artilleryman was detained, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
“A member of illegal armed groups was detained at the Melovoe checkpoint on the border with Russia by military personnel of the Lugansk border detachment,” the report says.
The detained 49-year-old native of the city of Mariupol told Ukrainian border guards during interrogation that, having a special education, in the summer of 2014 he participated in hostilities against the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the side of the militia in the city of Slavyansk, namely, he carried out maintenance of artillery weapons.
“Subsequently, as part of the “1st Slavic Mechanized Brigade of the DPR”, he participated as a “senior battery officer” in the so-called defense of Snezhnoye against the Ukrainian Armed Forces, organized the NZF fire system, including in battles in the Saur-Mogila area. In the period from the spring of 2015 to mid-August 2017, he “served” as deputy head of the artillery department of the “5th mechanized brigade of the DPR” in the city of Makeevka and the city of Dokuchaevsk, Donetsk region,” the press service reported.
After all procedural actions, the man was handed over to representatives of the SBU for further legal decision-making.
