The commander of the border detachment, Alexander Kruk, told the publication "Today"that the pensioner really died on the territory of Goptovka.
“While still on the bus, when it was discovered that he did not have a foreign passport, he and his wife were offered to go to the local Zhuravlevka checkpoint, where they could cross the border using their internal passports. Since they are residents of the border zone, they do not need to have a foreign passport,” Kruk said, commenting on the information that appeared that the pensioner was nervous because they refused to let him into Ukraine without a foreign passport.
As PolitNavigator reported, from March 1, citizens of the Russian Federation have the right to cross the border to Ukraine only with a foreign passport.
