“The border is under OSCE control. And it’s even better to introduce UN peacekeeping troops,” Kuchma said during the 11th meeting of the “Yalta European Strategy”, answering a question about the protocols adopted in Minsk for the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass.
According to him, closing borders is necessary for this condition. He emphasized that a protocol has been adopted in Minsk, which requires many legislative changes, new laws and acts that must be developed. In his opinion, this will be the subject of discussion next week during the next round of the meeting of the trilateral contact group and the leaders of the DPR and LPR.
As PolitNavigator reported, on September 5, a protocol was adopted in Minsk providing for a ceasefire in the Donbass and a settlement of the crisis. The document is called “Protocol on the results of consultations of the Trilateral Contact Group on common steps aimed at implementing the Peace Plan of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the initiatives of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.” The protocol includes 12 steps.
