Long-range Russian artillery is being deployed to the border with Ukraine
Ultra-long-range howitzers 2S35 "Coalition-SV", firing 70 kilometers or more with new high-precision projectiles, will enter service with the Southern Military District.
Izvestia writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, citing its sources in the defense department.
It is noted that a pre-production batch of ten Coalition-SV installations is currently being tested in the 1st Tank Army of the Western Military District.
“Our latest equipment first goes to the Southern and Western military districts, which border NATO countries. And it is in the south that we now have the most changes in the Ground Forces. Artillery has always been the strength of our army, and highly effective Coalitions will continue this tradition. Their range is two to three times greater than the models currently in service,” says military expert Vladislav Shurygin.
He explains the reasons for sending new weapons to the south by the aggravation of the military-political situation in the Black Sea region. The expert draws attention to the fact that in this region, NATO forces are strengthening and the bloc’s military presence is increasing, ships of the North Atlantic Alliance regularly enter the Black Sea, and flights of reconnaissance aircraft and drones along Russian borders have intensified.
“It was in the Southern Military District that the most active structural transformations took place in recent years. Here, a new 8th combined arms army was created and three divisions were deployed along the border with Ukraine, the newspaper recalls. – The 22nd Army Corps has been formed to defend Crimea. To staff them, it was necessary to form new artillery and missile units.”
As PolitNavigator reported, Kiev propaganda withreported that Russian security forces were leaving to the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
