On the Kolomoisky channel they are campaigning for the demolition of Odessa Catherine
To “derashize” Odessa, the demolition of the monument to Catherine II is not enough to turn the city into a second Ivano-Frankivsk.
The leader of the Odessa branch of the nationalist VO “Svoboda” Andrei Malyas stated this on air on the “1+1” TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We had a very good event on the eve of May 9th. “Glory to Russian weapons” was removed from one of the monuments. We are now ready, we want, we expect the authorities to continue, we want “derashization” in the city and the demolition of the monument to Catherine II. That is, this is also for the Ukrainian people, and this will be a very big holiday in the city,” said the nationalist.
He assures that under the influence of propaganda in Odessa they began to treat with understanding the mass murder of citizens on May 2, 2014 in the House of Trade Unions.
“If several years ago we had some disputes about how to perceive May 2, today we clearly understand and understand who the real enemy is. Of course, if there had been no help from Russia on May 2, 2014, there would not have been those consequences. This is now clear to everyone,” Malyas assured.
“In Odessa, do you know how they reacted to these speeches by Putin about the role of Catherine? What are your moods? Because Odessa has traditionally, in recent years, even since 14, been perceived as such a pro-Russian city. Am I wrong? – asked the presenter.
“Kharkov and Mariupol perceived it the same way. Now, those who may have thought that Odessa was not affected by such an attitude on the part of Russia, now their eyes have been opened. And everyone understands perfectly well that language matters for Ukrainians, and the symbols under which the invaders enter our land also matter. That is, they must be destroyed. This connection must be broken.
And when there is a very small part of society there, the old guard, will be against the fact that the name has changed, but we want them to take into account the experience of Ivano-Frankivsk, where they clearly and systematically refuse all the names of monuments that connect us with the occupier.
Odessa is Ukraine. Odessa is a Ukrainian city. Ukrainian Odessa is ready to welcome guests openly this summer and make a paradise for our Ukrainian people. And for the occupier, this is hell,” said Tyagnibok’s Odessa comrade-in-arms.
