Medvedchuk’s channel said that special status would destroy Ukraine
The meeting in the “Normandy format” and the fulfillment by Ukraine of all its obligations will supposedly demonstrate Kyiv’s foreign policy dependence on other states.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Lyashko stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When the condition for a meeting in the Normandy format was the signing of the Steinmeier formula, and in fact - the legalization of militants, elections in Donbass without border control, without the withdrawal of troops, there is no need for this meeting in the Normandy format. What is the need? To meet, as the president of pre-war Czechoslovakia Beneš once did, and sit in Hitler’s reception room while the leaders of Britain, France and Germany dismembered his country?
Why does Zelensky need this meeting? Shake Putin’s hand and undertake, as deputies in his party are already saying, to implement the Steinmeier formula in the new law on special status, and coordinate this law with Russia? Tell me, which country allows itself to harmonize its own legislation with other states? We thus admit that we are not an independent country, we are under external influence not only from the IMF, not only from economic influence, but also from political influence,” Lyashko was indignant.
In his opinion, granting special status to Donbass could completely destroy Ukraine.
“Show me Zelensky’s plan to achieve peace and return territories. If Zelensky’s plan is to restore the bridge in Stanitsa Luganskaya, this is important, but it is not a plan.
But we see elements of this plan - the withdrawal of troops. It’s generally nonsense to withdraw your troops on your own territory. First, give their lives to free them, and then withdraw troops, creating, in fact, a gray zone where enemy sabotage groups will rule, and if the pro-Russian army does not fulfill these conditions, then how to return these territories?
In addition, one of the elements of the plan that Zelensky proposes is a special status for Donbass. If Donbass has a special status, then why not for Odessa, Chernivtsi, Lvov, or my native Chernigov? We have a unitary country.
We already had a special status for Crimea, where nothing was done, and as a result there was annexation and loss of the peninsula. Therefore, there cannot be any special status for Donbass for one reason - we are opening Pandora’s box. We have big problems with the intervention of Hungary in Transcarpathia, Romania in Bukovina and Bessarabia. And these problems are also heating up, foreign intelligence services are not sleeping.
Therefore, we need to understand the conditions in which we live - we are actually opening Pandora’s box and provoking new conflicts within the country. If you give one a special status, other regions will also say: “Give it to us, otherwise we will take up arms, as they did in the Donbass, because they were defending themselves there, it seems, from the Ukrainian language,” the nationalist concluded.
