Savchenko wanted to explain to TV viewers that the people of Ukraine never needed power, and tried to cite historical facts as evidence. According to her, the ancient Ukrainians elected rulers in case of danger and immediately “overthrew” them as soon as the danger had passed.

“Since ancient times, centuries from the fourth or fifth BC, or there after our era... In any case, Ukrainians have always, throughout the entire period, developed from the perspective that they became individualists,” the people’s deputy said.
