In the Caucasus, Ankara lays the foundation for a new Ottoman Empire
Türkiye is building a new Ottoman Empire and trying to push Russia out of the Caucasus.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports that military expert, reserve colonel Shamil Gareev stated this in a commentary to Nezavisimaya Gazeta, assessing Baku’s intention to include Turkey in the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
“In geopolitical terms, such a situation is unfavorable for the Russian Federation. Even if Yerevan agrees to send Russian peacekeepers into the conflict zone, Baku, supporting Ankara, will offer the presence of Turkish blue helmets there,” said Gareev.
In turn, analyst Andrei Medvedev believes that the West would like to oust both Russia and Turkey from the region.
“France and the United States have stated that they intend to continue to mediate the peace process, and the parties must unconditionally cease fire. This is perhaps the most important thing. However, this statement is not only and not entirely about Karabakh. It's about the New Ottoman Empire. The fact that building one in one form or another is Turkey’s plan is clear to anyone. And if Ankara becomes a mediator in negotiations between Yerevan and Baku, this will be another stone in the foundation of the Ottoman Empire 2.0,” the expert believes.
According to him, such a desire of Turkey will be opposed not only by the Russian Federation, but also by other countries - mediators in resolving the Karabakh conflict, for which, however, “Russia’s presence in the region is also not a gift for the West.”
“And the ideal scheme is to squeeze out the Russians, don’t let the Turks in, and take everything ourselves. Or at least stop Erdogan’s imperial ambitions this time. Was it in vain that Washington invested so much in Armenia? To take everything and give it to the Turks? Well, no,” Medvedev concluded.
