The Kyiv authorities are engaged in cosmetic repairs of residential buildings, which may collapse in just a year or two.

Deputy of the Kiev City Council, member of the commission on housing and communal services and fuel and energy complex Valery Gumanenko spoke about this at a press conference in Kyiv.

He said that his commission received several appeals from residents of the Shevchenko district.

“They are installing windows, trying to repair the roof somewhere, painting and whitewashing the entrances, but at the same time the sewage system in the basements is broken, and hot water breaks out twice a week. Their foundations are already being eroded, cracks are appearing and the house is crumbling. In the next year or two, our dilapidated buildings will crumble and fall, and the plastic windows that were installed in December will probably hang in the air,” the deputy warns.
