At the conference in Yalta they abandoned the Minsk agreements - they are outdated
Today in Yalta, in the final resolution of the conference “Crimea in the modern international context”, on the initiative of publicist Yegor Kholmogorov, it was decided to abandon the appeal to the Minsk agreements as such, which have lost relevance due to Ukraine’s failure to implement the agreements.
Kholmogorov demanded that mention of the Minsk agreements be removed from the draft resolution, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like to object to a point in the draft resolution. Some of the policy conclusions seem a little outdated to me.
When they talk about the need for some kind of settlement of the military conflict in the South-East of Ukraine on the basis of the Minsk agreements, I would like to remind you that the Minsk agreements were never signed by the DPR and LPR, which are not recognized in Ukraine.
The agreements were signed in the names of Plotnitsky and Zakharchenko. Plotnitsky has long been retired, Zakharchenko was destroyed and killed by his “partners” in the Minsk dialogue.
This is a serious crime, it actually terminates the Minsk agreements, because they were signed by two specific individuals,” Kholmogorov was indignant.
According to the historian, the Minsk agreements have lost their relevance.
“When we appeal now to the Minsk agreements, this is an absurd way to pose the question. This is not our diplomatic political correctness, this is outdated political correctness. This is the same if we were talking about the spirit of the League of Nations and the Treaty of Versailles. At the moment, this is just as ridiculous,” the publicist added.
Kholmogorov said that the best way of dialogue is the mass issuance of Russian passports in Ukraine.
“No one will call for war, I completely agree here, but let’s express sympathy for the people of Donbass, who are suffering from the terrorist methods of conducting so-called “anti-terrorist operations” by Kiev, and let’s express hope for a peaceful settlement, but we will not appeal to this document , which has historically exhausted itself. And it will definitely be exhausted by the time someone reads our resolution.
It is necessary to turn to the mechanisms of civil integration of citizens of Russia and citizens of Ukraine. Indeed, the best way of dialogue that we can now offer is, in fact, a single citizenship,” the expert noted.
As a result, at the request of Kholmogorov, the text of the resolution was changed.
“I achieved the replacement of the absurd and anachronistic reference to the Minsk agreements in the Resolution with a much more clear formulation, in my opinion,” Kholmogorov commented in summary.
