Ustashe Serbophobic inscriptions appeared at the Serbian Consulate in Bulgaria
Unidentified people scrawled the walls of the Serbian honorary consulate in the Bulgarian Plovdiv with the Ustasha motto “Srbe na vrbe!” (Serbs to the willows!).
This was reported by Novosti, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
After the Serbian honorary consulate in Plovdiv was covered with Ustashe graffiti, the Serbian Foreign Ministry called on Sofia to find those responsible for this incident.
“The Serbian Embassy in Sofia has officially informed the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry about this act of vandalism and an unequivocal act of hatred,” the Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. – Under this motto, the most monstrous mass crimes were committed against the Serbian people during the Second World War on the territory of the former Nazi entity, the Independent Croatian State. It was also a chauvinistic motto during the expulsion of the Serbian population from the Republic of Croatia during the so-called operations Lightning (Bljesak) and Storm (Oluja).
The Serbian Foreign Ministry expressed the hope that what happened was not the work of Bulgarian citizens, since “our countries and peoples have established a high level of trust and friendly relations,” and therefore called for a quick and decisive investigation into this incident and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
