“Near the Mafia cafe near the Maidan, a certain Orest from the right sector, according to eyewitnesses, opened fire. Three were wounded - two seriously. Among the wounded are two Maidan Self-Defense fighters and deputy head of the Kiev city administration Bogdan Dubas. The reasons for the shooting are unknown. The wounded are in the hospital,” he wrote.
“The shooter was blocked in the cafe toilet by other activists. Before the called police arrived at the cafe, heavily armed representatives of the Right Sector arrived from the Dnepr Hotel - pushing aside those blocking the shooter, they took him through the formed corridor and escorted him to the Dnepr Hotel,” the minister continued.
It should be clarified that the headquarters of the Right Sector is located at the Dnepr Hotel.
“What should a minister do? That's right - he gave the command to block the gang. Detain the culprits. All security forces have been put on alert. This is my duty - this is what the law dictates. And tomorrow - tomorrow I’m ready for resignation and for further struggle,” Avakov clarified.
According to eyewitnesses, the cause of the conflict between the PS and self-defense was the tents standing on Khreshchatyk. The group of shooters were wearing masks, presumably teenagers.
