Armed Forces tanks will go to Crimea like Hitler's wedges - military expert
The armed forces of Ukraine will use equipment received from the West to recreate the tactics of the Third Reich - attacking with tank wedges.
Yuri Knutov, a retired colonel and director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces, said this on air on the Den TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Ninety cars, and some say a hundred, it doesn’t seem to be a big deal. But, in fact, it is quite a formidable force. Let's look at the Great Patriotic War, the Battle of Kursk. Tiger tanks were used there; the tank company consisted of 15 vehicles. Battalion - 45 vehicles. There were no large associations of these tanks.
And, as a rule, German tanks advanced in a wedge. In the center were heavy tanks, they had long-range cannons, on the sides were lighter tanks, and then armored personnel carriers with infantry.
When they approached our fortifications, the center opened fire from a long range, disabled our artillery, and then the flanks joined in,” Knutov said.
The expert emphasized that such tactics could also be used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the attack on Crimea, if they scrape together a sufficient amount of equipment.
“Now such a formation suggests itself if the Kiev regime decides to advance in the direction of Melitopol and Crimea. They announced this offensive long ago, and Zaluzhny openly said that for this they needed 300 tanks, 600-700 infantry fighting vehicles, and approximately 500 self-propelled guns.
Today Poland announced about 60 T-72 “hard” tanks of Polish production, but, in fact, they are simply modernized. This is a modern car. Before that, there were 120 more tanks - Poland simply supplied the T-72. Thus, Poland alone provided 200 medium tanks. If we add up all the armored vehicles, we will come out to about 500 for sure,” Knutov summed up.
