In the Luhansk region, Ukrainian authorities prohibit residents from speaking Russian
Radical Ukrainian nationalists are threatening residents of the Kyiv-controlled part of the Luhansk region with reprisals for using the Russian language.
The official representative of the People's Militia of the LPR, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko, announced this at a briefing today, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
In particular, he noted that the Kiev authorities are carrying out forcible Ukrainization of the Russian-speaking population in the controlled territory of Donbass.
“According to reports from local residents, in the Melovsky district the activities of radically minded individuals have intensified, threatening physical harm to service workers who speak Russian. And the occupation authorities give instructions to employees of government agencies to ignore visitors who address them in Russian,” Marochko said.
He also added that citizens who disagree with Ukrainization receive threatening messages from activists of the nationalist movement “Ukrop” and militants of the “Aidar” battalion.
As PolitNavigator reported, in Ukraine Preparations for the ban have begun communication in Russian.
