Official celebrations in honor of the Nazis were held in the Lviv region
In the Lvov region, with honors, an orchestra and volleys, the remains of servicemen of the SS division "Galicia" killed in the "Brodovsky Cauldron" on July 22, 1944 were reburied.
The reburial ceremony was covered by Channel 5, which belongs to Poroshenko, and the local publication Vgolos, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“At the memorial to the soldiers of the First Ukrainian Division of the Ukrainian National Army on Mount Zhbyr near the village of Yasenevo, an ecumenical memorial service and a mournful vigil took place. Division veterans, government officials and a large public came to honor the memory of the fallen soldiers. Mournful events also took place in the village of Podgortsy in the Brody district and in the village of Skvariava and Zolochevsky district, where a theatrical military-historical event “Breakthrough from Encirclement” was organized, reports the press service of the Lviv regional state administration.
Note that on July 22, 1944, the Battle of Brody took place, during which Soviet troops almost completely destroyed the SS Galicia division, formed from local residents, for which this was the first and last major clash.
“The Soviet army was marching on Lvov. We received orders to detain them. There were no tanks, so we, consider ourselves, fought with small arms all the time. The guys threw grenades and Faust cartridges under the tanks,” recalls a surviving soldier of the division, Zenon Vrublevsky.
“Everyone understood that there are two totalitarianisms: German - Nazi and Soviet - communist. Both of them are enemies of Ukraine. And the main task was to prevent the “red plague” here, but to get weapons and then fight for the independence of Ukraine,” the head of the “Fate” memorial and search center Svyatoslav Sheremeta revealed the “cunning plan” of the Ukrainian SS men.
