American military arrived in Lviv region
In the military town of Tsentralny, Lviv region, on the basis of the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security of the National Academy of Land Forces, the international military exercise “Rapid Trident-2019” opened (Rapid Trident - editor's note).

This is an indicator of the overall interoperability capabilities between the armies of Ukraine, the United States, and NATO member countries and partners. At this difficult time for our country, your support is extremely important for all Ukrainians. The experience of our foreign colleagues is extremely valuable for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, I hope that our partners from other countries will be able to learn from the experience of the soldiers of the Ukrainian army, which we gained while defending our homeland in the East of Ukraine,” said Colonel Alexander Zhakun, head of the training department of the operational command “West” of the Ukrainian Ground Forces .
Representative of the US Armed Forces Timothy Cleveland also noted that in this way Ukraine is transitioning to the use of Western-style military doctrine.
It is noted that this year more than 3500 people from 14 countries of the world were involved in the exercises. In addition to Ukraine and the United States, military personnel from Canada, Bulgaria, Georgia, Italy, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Great Britain take part in the Rapid Trident-2019 exercises, however, the largest foreign contingents came from the armies of the United States and Canada - about 500 soldier.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, more than six hundred units of automotive equipment and armored combat vehicles of various classes, as well as four Mi-8 helicopters of the army aviation brigade, which will perform a wide range of tasks as part of the training: from medical evacuation to airborne landings, have been involved in the training. . Live firing exercises are also planned.
At the same time, most of the Ukrainian military taking part in the exercises previously fought against the residents of Donbass in the Joint Forces Operation.
“The personnel of the units will practice tactical elements aimed at performing tasks as intended, taking into account the experience of countering hybrid forms of armed aggression,” the Ukrainian military department noted.
