On Maidan, Ukrainian nationalists fought among themselves over the idea of a torchlight procession.
Kyiv, April 29 (Navigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – In the evening, a conflict broke out on the Maidan between “Self-Defense” and activists of the Social Nationalist Assembly, also known as the “Right Sector East”.

The SNA tried to hold a torchlight procession along Khreshchatyk on the occasion of Remembrance Day. The procession was planned to be dedicated to the fallen Maidan activists.
Self-defense blocked the movement behind the barricades, preventing the procession from reaching the Maidan, calling what was happening a provocation in the interests of Russia. There were fights using tear gas.
As a result, after negotiations, Self-Defense made a living corridor through which they allowed the procession to pass, but without lit torches.
Participants in the procession proceeded through the government quarter, chanting “Glory” and calling out the names of the dead activists. When the column turned towards the Maidan, Self-Defense again did not want to let the procession into the square. The passage was opened only after 10 minutes of altercations and mutual accusations.
It is noteworthy that the march participants also chanted: “Who owns Kyiv? Ukrainians! Who owns Kharkov, Donetsk, Lugansk? Ukrainians! Whose Kuban will be, whose will Crimea be? Ukrainian!".
The skirmish on Khreshchatyk was commented on by Verkhovna Rada deputy from “UDAR” Irina Gerashchenko - in her opinion, the incident is proof that it is high time for the tent city on the Maidan to go home.
“We have no right to allow the Maidan and the memory of those whose blood washed the paving stones there to be discredited, by those who now for some reason continue to sit in tents, and not in the camps of the National Guard or the army. We have no right to turn a blind eye to the fact that they are trying to change the spirit of Maidan today. Guys, it's time to go home. This should be said by the people of Kiev, who were the main collective Guardian Angel of the Maidan. Home. We will gather on days that are important to us - Independence Day, on the days of remembrance of Our Children. Don't you dare disgrace their memory with fights and drunkenness! This didn’t happen on the real Maidan,” Gerashchenko wrote on Facebook.
