This was reported by the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Kharkov region, Anatoly Dmitriev, who was quoted by the local publication Status Quo.
“This is being done to ensure that the holidays are held peacefully and without conflicts. In particular, people with St. George ribbons will have their documents checked, and if necessary, they will be taken to the police station to establish their identities,” the Kharkov headquarters said.
He also noted that, in general, about 230 events will be held in the region during the holidays, in which more than 1,5 million people will take part. Law enforcement officers will switch to an enhanced version of their service.
According to him, in general, 1 thousand 2 employees will work on May 3, 8 and 9, as well as on May 8 and 400. This is twice as much as on normal days. All units of law enforcement agencies will work, as well as university cadets, 80 people from civilian units, as well as 200 special forces officers.
“We appeal to citizens to take into account the danger and not to participate in unofficial events, not to succumb to provocations, and to observe the rules of behavior in public places,” Dmitriev said.
As Politnavigator previously reported, Kharkov city authorities banned local communists from any actions dedicated to Workers' Solidarity Day and Victory Day.
