After one of the activists raised a blue flag with stars, there were shouts of “Get out!” “This is a mistake, we don’t want our protest to be associated with politics and some kind of external influence, for example, from the EU,” the activist explained the position of the protesters.
Five minutes later the EU flag was removed. Now the situation at the rally is calm, most of its participants have gone home, several dozen people remain on Baghramyan Avenue. They lay blankets on the asphalt and go to bed. The police do not interfere in what is happening.
Earlier it was reported that the protest in the center of Yerevan against the rise in electricity tariffs ended, the protesters began to disperse. Some protesters intended to stay overnight on the blocked Baghramyan Avenue.
Let us recall that on June 17, the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia decided to raise tariffs for electricity supplied to consumers by the Electric Networks of Armenia company by 1% from August 16. This led to mass protests in Yerevan.
