Ukrainian writers should be prepared for the fact that they will be forced to publish their works only in the language, but this is not in demand and does not generate income.
A science fiction writer who helps militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yan Valetov, stated this while speaking at the “Forum of Public Opinion Leaders,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Valetov was puzzled by the fate of his work, the target audience of which is Russian speakers.
“I understand perfectly well that the problems that we will face will be connected, first of all, with the perception of the Russian language in Ukraine. I, as you understand, am a Ukrainian Russian-speaking writer, and this worries me, first of all, because my Ukrainian readers read me in Russian, my books are translated, but, unfortunately, these translations are probably not so popular...
We will probably have to get used to the fact that we must, for example, as a writer, I must try to try to write in Ukrainian, that I must prepare for the fact that for me the translation process will actually be mandatory.
In principle, these trends were set for us not so much by the war, but by the inevitable peace after it,” Valetov said.
