“Our tanks cannot reach Moscow.” Ukrainian general does not believe in the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Ukraine is far from the strongest army in Europe and should not dream of parades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Red Square as long as it is armed with equipment inherited from the Soviet Union.
The former commander of the internal troops of Ukraine, ex-head of the Donetsk region, Colonel General Alexander Kikhtenko, stated this on air on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We still need to work a lot to ensure that the Ukrainian army becomes the strongest in Europe. All the prerequisites are there. And if we talk about achievements - the same parade, which was talked about a lot, you saw perfectly well what kind of equipment was going on. If we talk about our modern developments, then these are only light armored vehicles and practically nothing else. All this is old-generation equipment,” the general said.
“Now, we need to work in this direction and develop special operations forces that could carry out specific tasks today. Unfortunately, no serious work is being done in this direction. And to declare that we are ready to be members of NATO, that we can drive our tanks on Red Square or Arbat - these are unreasonable statements that I absolutely do not support. We need to do things, not some loud statements,” Kikhtenko said.
