NewsOne convinces that NATO will not go to the Sea of Azov
NATO will not send its ships to the Sea of Azov because it is “not in the interests of the North Atlantic Alliance.”
This opinion was expressed on the NewsOne TV channel by political scientist Kost Bondarenko, who collaborates with the Ukrainian opposition, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, to introduce Alliance ships, a unanimous decision of all members of the bloc is necessary, but he does not believe that this is possible.
“All decisions like this are made in NATO by consensus, that is, all NATO representatives, all NATO states must make a similar decision. Ukraine is not a member of NATO, so that NATO should defend Ukrainian interests. NATO currently has no interests in the Sea of Azov. Therefore, I think that today, if there is talk about the appearance of NATO ships, then these are perhaps individual ships of individual NATO member countries. I don’t think that NATO as a whole will support such an adventure,” Bondarenko assures.
Previously, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexander Turchynov saidthat Ukrainian warships will continue to try to sail through the Kerch Strait, despite the actions of the Russians from Crimea.
