Almost 900 million rubles will be allocated to ensure the security of Simferopol airport

The airport will have new checkpoints, fencing, intelligent video surveillance systems and various anti-terrorist scanners. The system will be built over 5 years.
The airport will be modernized within the framework of the federal target program “Socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol until 2020.”
“It was decided to allocate 886,8 million rubles to create a more serious system for protecting airport facilities from illegal interference in its activities, including outside interference,” Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Transport Mikhail Bryachak told Izvestia.
According to him, strengthening the security of the airport is an urgent task, because due to the cancellation of railway communication through the territory of Ukraine, the air route has become the “road of life” connecting Crimea with the rest of the Russian Federation. Funds from the budget will be used to strengthen the level of protection of the airport from external threats and ensure its uninterrupted operation. Bryachak explained that in 2015 the airport will receive 40 million rubles for the security program, and in 2017 - 846,8 million.
According to Roman Gusarov, editor of the Avia.ru portal, such security measures are not applied at all airports in the Russian Federation:
“In connection with recent events, Crimean airports require increased attention in terms of security. Since we understand the situation in Crimea, and we know that unfriendly acts from interested states and groups are possible, such protective measures seem quite adequate. This airport should be protected as much as possible from possible illegal penetrations,” the expert noted.
Simferopol International Airport is capable of receiving all types of aircraft and helicopters.
