According to activists, unknown persons threw a live grenade at the checkpoint. As a result of the incident, seven people received shrapnel wounds and were hospitalized. Among the victims is a police officer. According to preliminary information, the injuries do not pose an immediate threat to the lives of the wounded.
An investigative team and explosion service specialists are working at the scene of the incident. All the circumstances of this incident are being established, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Odessa region reported.
Let us remind you that yesterday at the checkpoint on the “7th kilometer” there was a conflict between Euromaidan activists and supporters of the Kulikovo Pole movement due to what the latter believed was an unauthorized inspection of vehicles. Both sides argued that their opponents had unregistered weapons. In addition, yesterday deputies of the regional council actively discussed the need to install and exist such posts, since their activities are not regulated by law. Among the complaints was that people without a fixed place of residence gather at checkpoints.
As Navigator reported, this is not the first conflict at checkpoints in Odessa. Previously, residents of the surrounding villages expressed a demand to dismantle some of the checkpoints created by both “Anti-Maidan” and “Euromaidan”.
