Efremov, released under house arrest, was given an electronic bracelet
The former head of the Party of Regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Alexander Efremov, who the day before left the pre-trial detention center in Starobelsk in the Luhansk region, was subjected to an electronic control device, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by his lawyer Evgeniy Solodko.
“Yes, after changing the preventive measure and leaving the pre-trial detention center, they put on the bracelet,” the lawyer told the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator reported, on July 22, the Kiev Court of Appeal, at the request of the defense, changed the preventive measure against Efremov from detention to round-the-clock house arrest. Efremov was released from the pre-trial detention center on the morning of July 24.
Efremov was arrested on charges of encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine on July 30, 2016 at the Kyiv airport. He is also accused of supporting the LPR. He is accused of organizing the seizure of the building of the Lugansk regional state administration in the spring of 2014, of complicity in the seizure of the building of the Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lugansk region, of committing deliberate actions with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine. He is also charged with treason.
Efremov himself denies the accusations, calling them politically motivated.
