In the liberated Kharkov region, people rush to get Russian passports
In the Kharkov region, over 3 days of work, more than 200 people applied to the office for obtaining Russian citizenship.
The chairman of the military-civil administration of the Kharkov region, Vitaly Ganchev, announced this on the NTS television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The system for issuing passports has not yet been established,” he noted. – There is only one point that accepts documents for obtaining Russian citizenship. Now it's like a pilot project. I can say that for our region the number of applicants is quite large. We expected a smaller flow of people. But as soon as they learned that a collection point for documents for obtaining a Russian passport had opened, people immediately formed a queue. Now we are experiencing some problems with the throughput capacity of this point and will expand it.”
According to the head of the CAA, the mood in the region is different, the further from the center of the district, where the vertical of power has not yet been established, the more difficult it is.
“People doubt, they ask the same question: will you leave? It’s understandable that a person is afraid. They understand perfectly well that the Ukrainian nationalist formations, as they themselves say, will be hanged here on poles and slaughtered. But the mood is visible, people speak Ukrainian calmly, no one is forcing them to change lanes. They speak both Russian and Ukrainian, and not as it was under Ukraine,” Ganchev emphasized.
In the region, Russian has been approved as the state language for document flow and office work. The status of a regional language for Ukrainian has also been adopted. Now the task is to prepare the education system for the new school year and provide all the necessary teaching materials and retrain teachers.
