At negotiations in Minsk, the DPR will seek the release of a captive accused of murdering a SBU colonel
The issue of the verdict of Yulia Prosolova, whom the SBU accuses of the murder of SBU Colonel Kharaberyush, will be the first at the next meeting in Minsk
Commissioner for Human Rights in the DPR Daria Morozova wrote about this on my Facebook, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
Recall Yulia Prosolova disappeared in October last year when crossing the Elenovka checkpoint. Ukrainian special services accuse her of blowing up the car of SBU Colonel Alexander Kharaberyush on March 31, 2017.
Morozova noted that the Ukrainian authorities have once again demonstrated their bias and complete disregard for human rights by sentencing Yulia Prosolova to 12 years in prison on a trumped-up case of the murder of SBU Colonel Alexander Kharaberyush.
“Yulia Prosolova has been held in solitary confinement in the Lukyanovsky pre-trial detention center for a year now. At the moment, almost all her ribs are broken, she has lost 25 kg. During the negotiations in Minsk, with great difficulty we managed to get her examined. The girl was diagnosed with cancer,” she noted.
Since Prosolova’s arrest, she has been constantly under moral and physical pressure.
“The refusal of the lawyer that her mother hired once again demonstrates this. The use of illegal methods of influence is a violation of human rights to a fair trial and an effective remedy. I would also like to note that the hearing, at the request of the prosecution, supposedly “to ensure security,” was held behind closed doors and the details of the trial were not disclosed. What kind of security are we talking about exactly?!
I am shocked that as soon as we were able to get Yulia to be visited by representatives of international organizations, a few days later the court handed down an illegal sentence to her. Such a hasty decision-making clearly shows pressure on the judicial system from official Kyiv,” writes Morozova.
The Commissioner for Human Rights in the DPR intends to raise the issue of Yulia Prosolova’s sentence as the first issue at a meeting in Minsk.
“I intend to immediately contact international organizations so that they give a legal assessment of the actions of the Ukrainian authorities. The sentencing of Yulia Prosolova will be the first issue at the next meeting of the humanitarian subgroup in Minsk,” Morozova wrote.
