At negotiations in Minsk, Ukrainians again refused to release all political prisoners

At the negotiations in Minsk, the Ukrainian side again refused to release all political prisoners as part of an “all for all” exchange with the LDPR. This was reported by Victoria Talakina, press secretary of the Speaker of the DPR Parliament Denis Pushilin.

Previously, as is known, Kyiv refused to include in the lists for an “all for all” exchange of anti-fascists arrested in Odessa, Kharkov, Kiev and other cities under the pretext that they allegedly had nothing to do with the conflict in Donbass.

In the LDNR, on the contrary, they believe that we should be talking about all supporters of the Russian Spring and are seeking their release.

“The Ukrainian side does not stop trying to divide those included in the exchange into categories, determining who is subject to release and who is not. In an effort to drag out the negotiation process, Ukrainian negotiators do not pay attention either to the prisoners’ affiliation with the side of the conflict or to their state of health. In turn, the Donetsk People's Republic does not intend to leave a single one of our people in the dungeons of Ukrainian prisons. We insisted and continue to insist only on the exchange of all for all.

No less outrageous is Ukraine’s behavior regarding the adoption of the amnesty law. As DPR Plenipotentiary Representative Denis Pushilin emphasized, an amnesty law is necessary, but it should be mutual for the parties to the conflict and apply to all persons associated with the conflict in Donbass, and not release criminal “ATO soldiers” from custody, Talakina said.

“We need to release 87 Ukrainians, whose location was determined by us. We clearly stated that the Ukrainian side is ready to release 309 people as a compromise in order to free our guys...

We believe that those who have no connection with the war in Donbass should be excluded from the list of demands. We are waiting for a response to our official compromise proposals... Demanding the release of criminals and terrorists who are not the subject of agreements is out of the question,” said Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko in turn.

The next meeting of negotiators in Minsk will take place on September 20.
