This was stated in an interview with Kraina magazine by the executive director of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, Viktor Andrusiv, who previously served as deputy chairman of the Donetsk military-civil administration for humanitarian issues.
“To believe that many Ukrainian patriots appeared there with the war is a mistake,” Andrusiv noted. “She is a product of television that shows happy people who meet the Ukrainian army with flags on Independence Day. There are many of them. For example, in Kramatorsk there are about three thousand of them. They are active and active. But this is about 2 percent of the city's population. In Donbass there is what I call “the reality of a tin can.” People closed down. They work in enterprises, have almost no contact with Ukraine, watch Russian television and communicate only with each other.
“Surveys show that only 30 percent of displaced people receive information from the media, and 70 percent from relatives and friends,” lamented the publication’s interlocutor. – This creates a huge information gap. We talk to them about a united country, democracy and freedom, but people do not hear these words. In their scale, the basic value is work. Another feature of the residents of Donbass is colossal family and collective solidarity. Their practice of individual culture is very undeveloped. People in this closed system are reproducing their Soviet practices. Young people are infected with the idea that everything was very good in the USSR, that they should have a dacha and a Lada car.
