At the Ukrainian Armed Forces training ground, Turchinov was shown a new Ukrainian mortar in action.
During the exercises at the training ground of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, tests of the new Ukrainian 120-mm Mobile Mortar Complex “Bars-8MMK” took place, which was attended by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
“The complex can quickly move to the required firing point, its computer system allows it to be positioned on the ground, the preparation time for firing from a traveling position is only 1 minute. It takes about 20 more seconds for the mobile complex to leave the firing position, avoiding the enemy’s response. He also said that the ammunition capacity is 60 minutes, and the crew of the combat vehicle consists of only three people,” said Alexander Turchinov.
The mobile mortar system was created by Ukrainian manufacturers on the basis of the Bars-8 armored vehicle. The combat vehicle is equipped with an automated deployment and fire control system.
“The manufacturers solved several problems when developing this Mobile Mortar System - in particular, they achieved maximum deployment and deployment speed, the ability to move mobile off-road, the ability to hit a target with high accuracy, and, most importantly, the safety of its use,” said the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine .
Turchynov expressed his conviction that after completion of state tests and adoption, “The mobile mortar complex will take its rightful place in the armament of the Ground Forces, air assault troops and Special Operations Forces.”
On September 21, the upgraded ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun, operational-tactical and combat UAVs were tested at the military training ground of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The flight performance characteristics of the Ukrainian light multi-purpose helicopters “Scout” and AK1-3 were also demonstrated.
Also at the test site, new Ukrainian-made ammunition was demonstrated and tested, in particular, RS-80 missiles, suitable for use in various applications, and a high-explosive fragmentation projectile for the MT-12 “Rapier” guns, popular among the troops.
Earlier, Turchynov assessed the combat effectiveness of Ukrainian cruise missiles in the Azov-Black Sea region.
