Law enforcement officers established that three residents of the region organized arms trafficking in the region through intermediaries. The group included former and current police officers, as well as those previously convicted of serious crimes. The sale of weapons took place during personal meetings with clients, according to the intelligence service’s website.
The SBU documented four attempts to sell weapons. During the last sale of two TT pistols and 750 rounds of ammunition, one of the dealers, a police officer, was detained.
During 12 searches at the place of residence and in the cars of the defendants in the case, law enforcement officers seized Nagan, TT, PM pistols, two pistols of an unknown type, a Kalashnikov assault rifle, and more than a thousand cartridges of various calibers. In addition, a large quantity of spare parts for firearms, silencers and about one kilogram of marijuana were found.
Three members of the group were detained and reported as suspected under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
