Today, the mandate of the candidate is a full-fledged subject of the election process awarded to only one candidate - the current Prime Minister of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko.
This was stated today at a press conference by the head of the Central Election Commission, Roman Lyagin, who spoke about preparations for the elections of the head of the DPR and deputies of the People's Council.
“Six candidates are vying for the post of head of the DPR, five of whom are at the stage of collecting voter signatures in their support, and so far the only one has been given the mandate of a candidate – a full-fledged subject of the election process, Alexander Zakharchenko.
The rest will become so after submitting signature sheets and verifying the authenticity of voters' signatures. Signature sheets must be submitted to the CEC by October 17 inclusive.
The social movements “Donetsk Republic” and “Free Donbass”, as well as the Communist Party of the DPR, will be elected to the Supreme Council using a proportional system. Today, we continue to accept documents from citizens’ associations and register them, but I would like to note that no one else will be allowed to participate in the elections on November 2 – the deadline for registration as subjects of the election campaign has already passed,” Lyagin said.
As PolitNavigator reported, on November 2, the DPR leadership plans to hold elections to the People's Council and the head of the DPR. At the same time, the CEC’s request to extend the election campaign until November 9 to prepare the premises was not satisfied.
