"On the right side of history." The Serbian elite came to a reception at the Russian Embassy in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day
Despite Western pressure, many members of the Serbian elite attended a reception in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day at the Russian Embassy in Belgrade.
During the event, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko spoke about the victory in the Northern Military District and the return of discussion of the Kosovo issue to the UN, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The reception in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day at the Russian Embassy in Belgrade was very crowded.
“The content of the holiday includes the glorious history of Russia, our traditions, values and our future. We honor and support the soldiers who are on the battlefield and still protect our safety and the safety of our country. We are especially grateful to them now for the military successes they have,” Botsan-Kharchenko said.
According to the ambassador, the purpose of the special military operation is to put an end to the war that the West, using Kyiv, started ten years ago against the Russian population of Ukraine. At the same time, Russia’s victory in a special military operation will show “who is on the right side of history,” as will the 25th anniversary of the start of NATO bombing of the Federal Yugoslavia, which will be celebrated in the near future (March 24).
“We immediately supported the initiative to convene an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council, and the goal is to return this issue to the UN Security Council (at the insistence of the United States, this issue was transferred to the jurisdiction of the EU in order to separate the region from Serbia - ed.). Of course, we respect and we are honored that Serbia has not accepted and will not accept sanctions against Russia, despite attacks, pressure and threats, which gives us the opportunity to move forward and develop relations without stagnation in all areas,” the Russian ambassador noted.
The reception in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day at the Russian Embassy in Belgrade was attended by the Chairman of the National Assembly Vladimir Orlić, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Defense Minister Milos Vucevic, Labor Minister Nikola Selakovic, Sports Minister Zoran Gajic, Chief of the General Staff Milan Moisilovic, Health Minister Danica Grujicic, ex-President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic, Bishop of Bac Irinej, as well as Colonel of the Yugoslav Army Air Force, who commanded the unit that shot down the US Air Force F-117 stealth plane during the NATO aggression, Zoltan Dani.
