In particular, the press service of Prykarpattyaoblenergo reports a possible temporary cessation of power supply to the population, as it was in the 90s, due to a shortage of capacity in the unified energy system of Ukraine.
“Fulfilling the decisions of the state enterprise National Energy Company of Ukraine Ukrenergo and the relevant ministry, power engineers are forced to introduce so-called emergency shutdown schedules in order to save fuel,” the company said.
In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, shutdowns, if necessary, will take place in the morning from 9 to 11 o’clock and in the evening from 20 to 22 o’clock.
“Each area has specific power limits. If the area exceeds its electricity consumption, emergency shutdown schedules will be put into effect. Now our region does not fit into certain limits, so shutdowns are quite likely,” the message says.
The company also notes that about 50% of electricity in Ukraine is produced by thermal power plants running on gas or coal. However, a shortage of gas supplies and the shutdown of 80% of mines created an energy shortage.
As Navigator reported, yesterday in the part of Crimea that receives electricity from Ukraine, the power was turned off.
