At the referendum in the Donetsk region, 89% voted for independence, - DPR Central Election Commission
Donetsk, May 12 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Preliminary results were announced at night by the head of the Central Election Commission of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” Roman Lyagin.

“We decided to announce the results now, because the situation is not simple, it is heating up every second. The turnout was very high, but not a record – 74,87% came to the referendum,” Lyagin said. “89,07% voted for the act of state independence, -10,19% voted against, 0,74% of the ballots were spoiled.”
The head of the Central Election Commission also emphasized that people oppose this referendum to the war unleashed by the new Kyiv government, the Novorossiya portal reports.
The official final protocol of the CEC will be published today, May 12.
As Navigator reported, on May 11, referendums on regional self-determination were held in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. A number of polling stations stopped working early or were not opened at all due to the tense situation in some areas.
