The retreat from Kharkov was explained on Russian TV
The Russian army retreated from Kharkov in order to minimize losses among the civilian population of the city and to hit the Ukrainian Armed Forces outside the dense buildings.
Military expert Alexey Leonkov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They (Ukrainian media - ed.) are spreading information that they have almost reached the border with the Belgorod region. It's just a stone's throw from Belgorod, everyone is shaking. The same topic is being dispelled by our ultra-patriots, who have alarmist feelings - everything is lost, the generals are bastards. In fact, this is not true. There at the border everything is fine and clear. The border guards received additional equipment and weapons. When something sticks out there, it gets hit in the face,” Lenkov said.
He added that it is important to pull military equipment out of Kharkov in order to calmly destroy it.
“Kharkov is a Russian city, but you understand that if at the beginning of the conflict all the equipment was on the territory of the city and fired from there, then it is clear that we could not respond, because civilians would die. Now a lot of equipment has come out, they are “overcoming”, they are always told “Forward, advance.” I think that one of the ideas is for the equipment to have time to move further away from the city in order to eliminate it,” the expert said.
It is interesting that the military correspondent Rostislav Zhuravlev also denies the critical situation for the Russian Federation near Kharkov.
“We left our (Kharkov) direction for Belgorod. There are rumors in the city about evacuation, that everything is bad, that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will almost capture the city.
My dears, I drove around from the other side of the border and we know all that is possible: where and who is sitting, where they went, which enemy is doing something weird.

I would advise evacuation in Kharkov.
Everything is fine: our soldiers are at their posts, our artillery is working, air defense is generally working wonders, reconnaissance is running, aviation is flying (and so on),” Zhuravlev said.
